Hi I'm Maureen. I'm a 4th grade teacher slash fitness junkie. I've always been somewhat of an athlete. I played field hockey and softball in high school and have remained active since then. However, after college, I realized I was reeeeally out of shape and couldn't do the things that I loved as easily as before. I wish I had pictures from this period of time to show you what I looked like, but I didn't take too many pictures during that time.
However two or three years ago, it all changed... I was sitting at my favorite local bar, late night, chatting it up with my favorite bartender (who also happened to be a trainer). He mentioned that he wanted to take on some new clients. I immediately jumped at this opportunity. The next week, I bought myself a gym membership and began training with my bartender. (haha, it sounds so funny to say this). My new trainer started teaching me complex movements and the rest if pretty much history. I became addicted to putting on more weight. I wanted to keep improving. For the first time in my life, I didn't care about the number on the scale, I just cared about the number on that bar. I kept saying my goal was to be a bad ass.
About 6 months ago, his scheduled changed and we ended our relationship. Now, I wasn't about to give up lifting and all of that hard work. (But I also was still intimidated by the "boy side" of the gym by myself). So, I discovered Crossfit. I LOVE IT! I've been at CrossfitMass for about 6 months. This blog is my journey through fitness and food and everything in between.
